Friday November 1 2013

Today's block order is F E H G

F Block   Crim 12

Since too many students were away this morning we could not carry on with I lesson I had planned. Therefore, the students continued to work on their questions/definitions from Ch. 4 Counting Crime.

E Block   Crim 12

Most of the students were in class so we carried on with the planned lesson. We talked about what the prototypical criminal would look like. I asked students to close their eyes and imagine a criminal and then describe him/her to me. We brainstormed on the board some of this person's characteristics. We can up with a description that the students kind of agreed to. We looked at correlation and causation in relation to crime. This led to a discussion about correlates of crime.
I handed out the new booklet for Chapter 5 and a chapter 5 package for the students to work on.

H Block   Socials 10

Today was an interesting class. We are starting to work on an extended assignment....not a project!  The students were given a character that they will work with for the next few weeks. This character card lists many details about the person's wealth/education/family life/religion...
The first part of the assignment is for the students to write about why they want to leave their home country and move to Upper Canada. There will be four journal entries in total for this assignment.

 G Block   Socials 9

Today we started to work on the French Revolution. Since some of the students away, you will get your test marks back on Monday. We worked on a map of France to get you familiar with some of the locations. After that we worked on a French society pyramid.
Put the following in correct order with a few notes to understand each:
Aristocrats
Peasants/Workers
King
Bourgoisie
